Employment Opportunities Procedure:
1.            Positions are posted for five (5) business days in the Job Opportunities Bulletin for internal applicants. This listing is available at Casa Central, 1343 North California and is also sent to the employees via email. All positions that are not filled will remain on the Job Bulletin for 30 days.

2.            Employees interested in applying must submit a completed internal application and any other documents that may be required for the position within the five (5) business day period to the Human Resources Department.



3.            External candidates may apply only for positions that are currently open. Applications will only be accepted at Casa Central, 1343 North California or resumes may be faxed to (773) 645-5442 or sent by email to hr@casacentral.org*. The applications will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. If the application is made within the first five (5) business days of the posting, the external applicant will be considered with the first group of candidates. If the application is made after the closing date, the external candidate will be considered only if a selection is not made from the first group of candidates.


4.            Human Resources enters all of the job applications and resumes into the database and screens for qualified applicants. Applicants are sent a card or a message via email that their application/resume has been received, and if not selected, that their application/resume will remain on file for one year. The most qualified applicants are forwarded to the hiring managers and those selected will be contacted and scheduled for an interview. 


5.            The most qualified candidate will be scheduled for a second interview with the President.  Wherever possible, departments and programs should have a second choice candidate in the event that the top candidate is not extended a job offer.


6.            Candidates who were interviewed, but not selected, will be notified by Human Resources that another candidate was chosen.


7.            Once a candidate is selected, only the President, Vice President of Programs and Operations, or the Director of Human Resources may extend an offer of employment. 


8.            Once an offer has been made, the employee continues the pre-employment process with the Human Resources Department by completing required paperwork and being sent for the prescreening examinations. Along with the hiring managers, Human Resources will set a start date for the employee and schedule a date for the New Hire Orientation.

Children Services: Adolescent Parenting Program
The Adolescent Parenting Program (APP) program serves teen parents through age 19 and their children ages 0-3. Casa Central works with this critical group in order to help teen parents keep with the Illinois Early Learning Standards for children ages 0-3.
APP home educators visit the teens at home on a weekly basis to strengthen their understanding of child development and to develop parenting skills. In addition to home visits, there are weekly group sessions designed to connect teen parents with each other as they learn about specific issues in child development, how to manage their relationships, and develop future plans for themselves and their child.

Job Summary:
The Home Educator is responsible for planning, implementing, and documentation of home-based interventions that will help build strong parent-child relationships, promote the healthy development of teen parents and their children, promote self-sufficiency, and help delay subsequent pregnancies.  The Home Educator will function as a part of the team.

Perform or assist clients in their homes with personal care, essential shopping or errands, routine housekeeping skills/tasks, home maintenance and repairs; teaching/performing of meal planning and preparation; laundry; assisting with self-administered medication; individual must have the ability to lift 25 pounds or more and climb up and down the stairs (i.e. laundry bags, assist clients by lifting them if they fall or need assistance).

The Instructor is responsible for the lesson planning and implementing of club activities with 20 school age children that will promote: emotional learning, arts and culture, community service health care, out of school academics, community involvement, and family engagement.  This position will supervise the Community Assistant and will oversee volunteers and interns.  Employee will attend and contribute to scheduled staff meetings and trainings.  Maintain attendance and other required records.

Transportation

The transportation department is responsible for the everyday transportation of Casa Central’s clients, participants, volunteers, and employees.  The transportation is responsible for delivering all parties to and from the agency when necessary. Transportation is also responsible for transporting clients, participants, and employees alike to any special events that the agency may partake in.

Job Summary:  This job is responsible for transporting participants to and from the facility and during special events as requested. The driver will report any routine problems to Transportation Manager immediately.

Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.) 

Casa Central's youth program has provided an array of programming to at-risk youth in Chicago's inner-city for more than ten years. Youth Options Unlimited fosters strong academic, leadership, and life-skills development with a variety of programs and structured activities, including drama, tutoring, workshops and sports.

Through intense focus on academic outcomes, leadership development, and retaining older youth participants, the program strives to help the participants do well in school, avoid drugs and gangs, and find future adult success by advancing to college or steady employment.

Employment and Training: Early Intervention

Established in 1980, the Early Intervention program provides a four-month long Certified Nursing Assistant training curriculum to low-income individuals.
Vocational instruction is coupled with counseling and enrichment activities in an effort to cultivate the skills and confidence necessary for participants to successfully enter the work force and later, maintain self-sufficient lifestyles.

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, the counselor/case manager plans, organizes and implements the admissions, job development and job placement process, supportive services, casework management and crisis intervention on components of the program.  Works in an integrated manner with other program staff to provide for the supportive needs those participants present while involved in the position assigned at Casa Central.  Keeps records on services provided and prepares other required program documentation.  Position involves traveling and visits to different neighborhoods.  May be required to attend special agency events or meetings that at any time may require adjustment in work hours other than regular shift.

Adult Wellness Center

The Adult Wellness Center program provides important respite and assistance to caregivers. It also gives the program participants, as well as the seniors it employs, a meaningful manner in which to remain active and valuable within their community.
Program participants receive transportation to and from the Center, breakfast, lunch and a snack. While there, they have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of supervised, structured activities.
The Adult Wellness Center has the capacity to serve 88 seniors. Currently, approximately 70 to 75 seniors attend daily.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide clerical support to program staff in order to ensure the day-to-day operations of the Adult Wellness Center.  Performs routine clerical functions (i.e., types, photo copies, files, handles correspondence, answers telephones, greets visitors, etc.) as well as billing, revenue reconciliation and rejects management for Adult Wellness Center (AWC).

The Family Development Specialist is responsible for assisting families in carrying out the parenting functions of education, socialization, and nurturing their children. In this role, the Family Development Specialist assesses what each parent needs in order to successfully prepare their children for kindergarten, and ensures that support and information is provided.

Education/Experience:
Must have BA in Social Work or related field experience. 
Language Skills:
Bilingual in English and Spanish. Ability to read and comprehend instructions as well as the ability to read and interpret documents.  Ability to write reports and correspondence.
